Leonel Vásquez | UNTITLED Art, Miami Beach 2025

Casa Hoffmann presents the work of Leonel Vásquez, a Colombian sound artist whose practice explores the power of sound as a medium that molds sensory experience. He investi- gates ways to expand the act of listening as a political, aesthetic, and recomposing action, and a medium to rebuild bonds in contexts of social and environmental conflict.

Through analog amplifying systems and experimental instru- ments that emit resonant vibrations, the artist seeks to connect us with the voices of rivers altered by human activity. Listening to water allows us to reconnect with what the river offers: the possibility of healing both our bodies and the territory.

Recognized as one of the leading figures in the Latin American art scene, Vásquez is presenting his work at the 36th Bienal de São Paulo. His pieces have been shown in international institu- tions such as the Bienal Internacional de Arte y Ciudad, BOG25 (Colombia), the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art (England), the Fonoteca Nacional (Mexico), and Fragmentos, Espacio de Arte y Memoria (Colombia).
